DESCRIPTION

Setting

Description

The house is the easternmost of a row of four Bungalows on the north side of Birch Avenue. Key features of the house include its asymmetrical gable, its dormer, and its incised porch. The end-gabled roof is clad with asphalt shingles; it has a longer south slope. A small brick chimney is centered on the ridge, located over a shed dormer ith two 1x1 double hung sash windows. The walls of the house are frame, clad with vinyl siding. Windows are replacement 1x1 units. The entrance consists of a replacement door with an inserted half-circle window. The incised front porch is located below the extended roof eave, which is supported by four square columns attached by a simple railing. The house has a concrete foundation.

History

The row of Bungalows (originally five) was constructed c. 1920. Historic maps indicate that the property was vacant as late as 1918. The first indication of the house is the historic aerial of 1940, which shows the row in place.
