Description |
The building on the property is an American Foursquare facing north. The
key features of the house are its hipped dormer and massing. The
pyramidal roof is clad with asphalt shingles and features aluminum eaves.
The dormer on the north slope has a hipped roof, asphalt- shingled walls,
and a 2x2 window that appears to be original. The house's walls are
stuccoed with an aluminum frieze. Fenestration consists of replacement
1x1 double hung sash units. On the main elevation, the second floor
features two windows, neither aligned over the window or door on the
first floor. The door is located in the east bay; it is a replacement
unit opening onto the front porch. The porch has a hipped roof, aluminum-
clad frieze, and iron corner posts. A set of concrete steps leads from
the door down to the grade of the front lawn. The side walls feature two
bays of windows. The house has a concrete foundation. |

History |
The house was constructed c. 1920. Historic maps and atlases show a vacant
lot in this location as late as the Sanborn atlas of 1918. The Franklin
Survey atlas of 1930 does not document properties north of Leigh Avenue.
The house first appears on the historic aerial of 1940 and appears on all
subsequent aerials. |
