Description |
This is a fine example of a front-end-gambrel-roofed house designed in
the Dutch Colonial Revival style. Key features: wooden eaves and cladding
with wood shingles on 2nd floor and clapboard at first floor. It is
basically a twin of the house at 98 Leigh which are two of the few all
wood cladded houses in the neighborhood. This is a frame, 1.5-story, 2-
bay, house with an asphalt shingled gambrel roof. Additional key features
are its roof, large monitor dormers, and wooden window entablatures. Main
(north) façade features a half-round window under crest, two large sash
units (replacements - here and throughout house) centered on 2nd level.
The first floor porch is enclosed such that description of fenestration
at the level is not possible. That said, and like 98 Leigh, a door to the
porch is near the SE corner indicating the main entrance location. The
enclosed porch is clad in vinyl siding with a paired window east door to
porch. That door is a multi-light glazed French unit with sidelights and
transom. Full-length front porch has a hipped roof with thick cornice and
overhanging eaves. Wide concrete steps with metal railings lead down to
grad grade opposite door.
West façade exhibits 2nd level exhibits nearly full length dormer with
three windows on dormer and a single paired unit in center and small
square unit near SW corner. East façade shows a single sash and a paired
sash in dormer; first floor obscured. |
