Description |
This property contains a small, 2-bay, 2-story, frame, vinyl-clad
Bungalow with an end gabled, asphalt-shingled roof. Eaves are aluminum
clad. The main feature is its partially incised porch framed with
diamond-shaped, asbestos clad, pent type roof. Main (north) façade
features 2 sets of paired 6x1 sash window units (all windows are
replacements on house). First floor openings are recessed. They feature a
paired unit near NE corner (aligned with unit above)and partially glazed
entrance door (possibly original)near NW corner. Porch pent roof returns
on both ends and is supported by 4 turned posts with simple railing and
turned balustrade. Posts rest on masonry piers with square lattice in
between. Masonry steps (with similar railing)are centered and lead to
sidewalk at grade. Foundation is stucco. House has 1-story rear addition.
East end has 1x1 window at 2nd level near SE corner. First level has
paired window aligned with window above. West façade has a single 6x1 at
2nd level near SW corner. A 1' wide "bump-out" or extension with vinyl
sides and shed roof extends from below the 2nd level window to rear
addition. Roof appears to be extension of rear addition. |

History |
These buildings at 54 and 56 Leigh, like those at 106 and 108 Leigh, do not
appear on the 1918 map but do on the 1927 Sanborn Atlas. Aerials are blurry
but seem to appear on 1931 photograph. |
