DESCRIPTION

Setting

Description

14-20 Leigh Avenue is a four unit rowhouse block expressed as a twin to keep in in scale with the single residences on the street. #14 has had the easternmost opening altered from the typical two bay arrangement for each unit where there are two second floor windows with a window and door below, the door to the right. Each unit as its own stair to the full width hip roof front porch. The railings are replacements and match. The fours bays are equal with square posts and small knee braces. The eastern unit in #16 has paired first and second floor windows instead of singles. The vinyl siding changes color from #16 to #18. Large street facing gables at each end give the building the larger scale to match nearby single residences. There are matching rear facing gables and a center ridge for the intersecting roof that covers the rectangular footprint of the building. There are four small brick chimneys along this central ridge parallel to the street. The east and west elevations have four windows each. There is a one story shed roof extension at #16.
